Class will be in session starting January 2011! Hey everyone, my private character design class at Bergen Street Comics www.bergenstreetcomics.com came together really well so I'll be starting up another semester early next year. This class is an 8 week intensive course that focuses on the fundamental skills and knowledge needed to become a character design artist for animation, comics and video games. Be prepared to draw a lot, because this will be a learn by doing class with focus on developing your artistic skills. Not your sit-there-and-listen-to-me-talk-for-three-hours skills. The attendance is limited to first come first serve. If you would like to lock down your spot for the class this semester you can mail a check to my studio or Bergen Street. Otherwise the only thing I require is a sample of your work and a positive, willing attitude. There is no submission. Everyone is eligible.
In our last session, along with the weekly assignements, we also went on location drawing and had DC artist Sean Murphy www.seangordonmurphy.com come in and demonstrate his approach to designs from his Joe the Barbarian comic with Grant Morrison. This will be a great opportunity for new artists to advance their art and meet like minded individuals with a passion to draw as well as for veteran artists to hone their growing skills.
Classes will be held on the weekend and our official start date is pending, but be prepared to start by late January.
